Message from the Bow Valley Branch President

Dear Parents,

Hello!  My name is Jacob Harriman, and I am president of the Bow Valley Branch, which is the parent volunteer committee which oversees, assists and aids both NLCC John A Hamilton #166 and #335 Calgary Sea Cadets.  I would like to welcome you and your child/children to the Cadet family. You have taken the first step in ensuring that your child has a wonderful time during the formative years where they will learn lifelong skills, make lasting friendships and become true citizen leaders of tomorrow.

The Bow Valley Branch is responsible for all operational expenses at both corps which includes fundraising, administrative expenses, optional training, off-site activities, classrooms/gymnasium, Uniforms & weekend Camps (NLCC John A Hamilton), insurance, awards, special mess dinners, etc. We also pay a per cadet, annual assessment fee, to the Navy League Division of Alberta.

Volunteering/fundraising promotes involvement, builds a sense of community and contributes financially to meet the cost of the program. We need all parents to help offset this cost by your generous contribution of your time fundraising and/or other monetary contributions. Monetary donations will receive a tax receipt. Throughout the year, you and your cadet will hear appeals for help for various fundraisers.  We look forward to your support to make all those activities a success to help cover costs, so the cadets can have a fruitful year of training.

Please feel free to reach out to me or any member of the Bow Valley Branch with questions, comments or concerns. We can be reached at the entrance to the school on Thursday nights or at our monthly board meeting held in a classroom at the school on the second Thursday of every month starting at about 6:45pm.

Thank You Very Much,

Jacob Harriman
